High Performance Learning

We are aiming to be a High Performing Learning School (HPL). Alder Tree is in its second year of the journey. We want all of our children to BELIEVE, BELONG and BECOME successful pupils of our school and successful adults in our community.

We embed the HPL philosophy throughout our school. We never tell our students they cannot achieve; we reassure that although they may not doing it yet, with practice and persevere it will happen.

As part of this we have implemented Values, Attitudes and Attributes (VAA’s) that help our pupils learning how to behave. Advance Cognitive Performance Characteristics that teach our pupils how to think. They are linked to the attributes of been: Empathetic, Agile and Hardworking. We have turned these into animal names so that our children can remember them. We use these in class to promote good behaviour and in our whole school assemblies. Please ask your child about these at home and look out on our social media for examples of children displaying these in school.
