Remote Education

This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.

What if a pupil does not have the equipment?

We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. We take the following approaches to support those pupils to access remote education:

In the instance that pupils need to borrow laptops or tablets, please contact the school office and we will support where possible. A collection of work packs will be printed out in advance too, so that pupils can access any printed materials, should they not have online access.

Pupils can also submit work to teachers via their printed work packs.

What will lessons be like?

As the student and the educator are not physically present in a traditional classroom environment. Information is relayed through the printed work packs and in some cases technology.

What are pupils expected to do?

We expect pupils to engage as much as possible, just as they would while in school.

Should parents have any questions regarding routines or the setting of their child’s work, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

How will pupils know they are making progress?

Feedback can take many forms and may not always mean extensive written comments for individual children. For example, whole-class feedback or quizzes marked automatically via digital platforms are also valid and effective methods, amongst many others.

Teachers will mark pupils’ work and provide feedback on their progress on a weekly basis. This frequency will also be attributed to our monitoring of engagement, in the form of weekly phone calls.

How are pupils with additional needs supported?

We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils by creating personalised activity packs and providing recommendations.

For our younger children, we will put together bespoke learning packs which incorporate suggested activities.
